TERKAIT:

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is slow in handling the Century Bank case, according to Anis Matta, the secretary general of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), Monday, at the House of Rep. building, Jakarta.

Anis, also a deputy speaker of the House, underlined that if the KPK's performance is too slow for this case, then PKS will not hesitate to push for the right to freedom of expression.

"I don't know why, but we see that the KPK is slow compared to the handling of other cases. Whatever the reason, we indicate a lethargy in this case. We will push for the right to freedom of expression  if there is no progress."

He believes that the House's final view on Century Bank's case has directed the process onto the law's track. "If the KPK executes the recommendation well, then there's no need to exercise the right to freedom of expression."

Though the House and the KPK are on different domains, but Anis opined that the process executed by the KPK and the legislature's inquiry committee on Century Bank are very similar. "The KPK is examining the same witnesses and documents. The difference is on the reconstruction. But the House's political reconstruction is also similar to the KPK's legal reconstruction."
